On March 12, we discussed various design concepts for the elderly and handicapped during our Modern Senior Living Community Design seminar. Jack Bowersox, who served as the main speaker, designed the first 100% barrier free residential retirement community in the United States in the 1970’s with his team. Jack has worked on numerous projects around the country, including the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He also has been involved in developing and testing the new “Household Design” building code requirements in the State of Florida Building Code for skilled nursing facilities. We also discussed the latest senior housing legislative update and what this means for our future.
