Technology Must Be A Priority for Senior Living Communities

HousingA recent panel at the Chicago Senior News Chicago Summit discussed the tendency of senior housing developers to spend money on the wrong priorities. In particular, they noted that money spent on technology should be prioritized as it impacts day-to-day satisfaction of residents.  The example cited was where a facility spends excessively on landscaping and fountains but looks to save by purchasing the least expensive WiFi system.  Particularly in climates with excessive cold or heat part of the year, outdoor space is only useable for part of the year, whereas technology – particularly communications technology – is a daily activity.  Senior living facilities will have to balance the need for eye-catching amenities which bring new residents in with those technological amenities which will keep them happy once they move in.
