By John Ruffier: At a recent Marcus & Millichap webinar on COVID-19’s effect on the Senior Housing industry, a speaker made what we found to be a salient point: while the media and general public are quick to praise and recognize the challenges (lack of PPE, high risk of exposure) of medical workers at hospitals, when the media turns to the senior living industry, the same credit is not given to our industry’s workers who face those same challenges. Further, senior living communities were expected (and often by law mandated) to immediately put into place procedures even when thesupplies to implement those procedures were not readily available. So, from the Lowndes team, we want all those working in senior living communities and caring for our parents and friends that we appreciate the challenges you face and the incredible work you are doing!
