Making Seniors Housing Affordable for Middle-Class Residents

crystal ballSenior Housing Business magazine’s October-November 2016 issue had an interesting “question of the month” – asking how to make the industry more affordable for the middle class.  Unsurprisingly, there were many differing opinions on the subject – from an increasing use of technology to lower staffing costs to residents having to accept that they may not be able to afford the costs of urban/suburban settings and instead settle for life in a “tertiary market”.   Unasked, though, is the question of what will happen if the income gap in our country continues to grow an there are fewer and fewer potential residents who even can be described as middle-class?
